What Do You Mean ‘They’re not sick, they’ve been spooked'? Interpreting Cultural Beliefs in Health Care

Cultural Brokering is an important part of a medical interpreter’s job. People have different beliefs around what makes them sick and what can cure them - some of these beliefs are cultural. This presentation will help to understand the value of this information and the trust built between a patient and their provider when these cultural beliefs are discussed.

Presenter: Evelyn Guerra, Interpreter Services
